Printmaking Exchange Update

Hello Everyone and Happy New Year!

In November I decided to sign up for a print exchange through the group Baren Forum (http://www.barenforum.org); a place for printmakers using the Japanese method of making prints from carved woodblocks with ink applied with a bristle brush and burnished with a baren (a bamboo leaf covered burnisher).

This exchange is due at the end of February and I thought I had so much time -- even with the holidays quickly approaching. I had somehow read (dyslexia) the measurements wrong, or had the wrong idea about the proportions -- I had made a sketch of some tall lanky trees and thought they would be a nice print for this project.  Designed and carved, and was happily way ahead of the loosely knit schedule I keep in my mind. Such a good print!

However as you can see, by these two photos, which print fits better on the 7 & 1/2" x 10" paper., which is the paper size selected for this exchange, it is called chuban.

Please stay tuned for more progress. I look forward to hearing from you and am glad to answer your questions about my work. Thanks again so much for following along, so glad you are with me on this creative quest!
